Memories from Trinidad del Mar – A Personal Travel Diary
Dear friends,

I first visited Trinidad del Mar nearly twenty years ago. My Italian friend Bruno used to talk a lot about its untouched historic center, full of colonial charm. You can spend your days just wandering through cobbled streets, soaking in a magical atmosphere where it truly feels like time has stood still.

The Caribbean spirit is everywhere—in the early morning light, in the sound of roosters crowing, and in the horse-drawn carriages gliding past colonial facades.
❤️ A Place That Feels Like Home
Over the years, I kept coming back. Every visit feels like coming home. I think of my dear friend Roberto—who was once my host and is now a widower since Nery passed away. I still go fishing with Tony, and we often talk about Pirolo, the best harpoon fisherman in the area. Both of them live in Casilda, a quiet fishing village near Trinidad.
🏠 Where I Stay
I usually stay at a hotel in Playa Ancón or at Mayra’s casa particular, a cozy and affordable guesthouse. You can reach her at +53 5 3592760.

• Hotels in Ancón: Around USD 80 per night, all-inclusive
• Casa Particular: USD 15–30, depending on the season

🎶 Music, Culture & Nightlife
In Trinidad, music flows through the air. You’ll find amazing live performances everywhere—plazas, bars, restaurants, and open-air venues. Be sure not to miss:
• www.musicales.es – live music listings
• La Canchánchara – known for traditional Cuban son
• Disco Ayala – a nightclub inside a cave
• La Cueva and La Botija – top spots for dinner and dancing
